~ Goodbye Our
Sunny Friend ~
The summer time is ending
It's time to say goodbye,
To beach and swims and picnics
To blue and cloudless skies.
It's time to pack away
The sunhat, bicycle,
Farewell the summer cabin
The cookouts so delightful.
It seemed so quick this year
The lemonades and holidays,
We didn't want to bid it go
Nor see the flowers fade away.
So I am thus relieved...
That some things never change
Like you, my dearest friend
God gave to be the same.
Yes, you'll be my sunny friend
Forever and a day,
Warm here, we'll stay together
Close, in all we do and say.

I would like to send you sunbeams, or
twinkles of a star;
Or a tiny piece of downy fleece that
clings to cloud afar.
I would like to send you dewdrops,
soft at break of day;
And then, at night, God's sparkly
light, that mantles Milky Way.
But these are just wild dreams, so
I'll send you love my friend;
I'll clasp your hand,
you'll understand,
the things I left unsaid.
