~ Humbled ~
As I sat in the park today
and watched the children
play
My ears were quite intent,
to what I heard one say
Are you going home for
dinner?
'Yes' replied her friend
I'll just wait for you here
We have no money to spend
My mom don't have the stuff
to cook for us a meal
She
said 'I'm sorry,
please try not to make a fuss'
'We'll just go to Jesus
and kneel right down and
pray,
ask Him if he'll favor us
and send some help today'
The words of that poor child
rolled over in my mind
So I went up to her
And offered her a dime
She pulled her empty hand
away
And looked up in my eyes
'You might need that for
yourself'
That took me by surprise
I hung my head in shame
And took her in my arms
Show me where you live, my
child,
you'll have your heart's
desire
I'll share what God has
given me
We'll sit down, enjoy a meal
And I'll leave enough behind
so your family can have
their fill
