~ If You Were ~

When I took a little stroll
A walk around the garden, it was nice
I enjoyed the warmth of the sunshine
The pretty flowers, the morning dew
But, something just didn't feel quite right
I realized I was missing you

I could hear the birds chirping happily
White fluffy clouds, like fairyfloss, soft
Just out of reach, the sky a panoramic view
The rustle of the leaves,
a gentle wafting breeze-beautiful...
But I was missing you

It was very still, the solitude
I felt hushed in the reverie, the reverence
I could almost hear the angels whispering
I imagine that they do,
In my garden, yet, I wished...if you were only here
to chat to, for I am missing you

Friendship arises out of mere companionship
when companions discover
that they have in common some insight or interest
or even taste and which, till that moment,
each believed to be his own unique treasure (or burden).
The typical expression of opening Friendship would be something like,
"What? You too? I thought I was the only one."....
It is when two such person discover one another,
when, whether with immense difficulties and semi-articulate fumblings
or with what would seem to us amazing and elliptical speed,
they share their vision - it is then that friendship is born.
And instantly they stand together in an immense solitude.
(Clive Staples) C. S. Lewis
