~ It Happened One
Christmas ~
Based on a
true story
Streets were bright
with Christmas
cheer,
as carolers sang
songs of praise.
In the middle of the
city park
the Christmas tree
was raised.
Every store window
had gifts displayed,
and the children
smiled with delight.
For soon that man in
the red snow sleigh
would be streaming
across the night.
But not every child
was filled with joy,
in the campgrounds
was one sad face.
Peeping out his tent
Bobby knew,
no gifts would be
coming his way.
His parents were
facing some hard
times,
there was no money
left this year;
and try as hard as
he could each day,
he just couldn’t
stop the tears.
He sadly arose
Christmas morning,
heading out to face
the bright sun.
When he opened the
flap on his tent,
there were gifts
laying out on the
ground.
He couldn’t believe
this had happened,
he squealed out in
childish delight.
It seems the Park
Rangers had noticed,
and were touched by
this family’s
plight.
So when you think
Santa Claus is a
myth,
just because you
know reindeer don’t
fly;
remember that Santa
has helpers,
who don’t have to
race through the
sky.
