~ Let My Faith Be My Shield ~

When we look around us there are so many
that do not experience genuine love,
My heart goes out to those who have not
had the opportunity to feel that
unconditional, positive emotion
emitted from above.

Often those loveless ones would that we suffer
as they do;
they hurl javelin into our hearts piercing us through,
enforcing serious pain,
Today, in my anger and in my weakness,
words came fourth from my mouth
that I dare not say,
Please forgive me God.

That isn't God's plan.
As I gain my composure
I became concerned about my fellow man,
May they come to know him in a more personal way,
Dear Father let me stand and be firm
in every moment, every second, every day,
Else what kind of an influence
would I be,  if by my actions
I led them astray?

I want to wear the whole armor as I prepare for war
against that ruler of darkness, Satan,
when he opens the door to the bottomless pit,
Peace, truth, faith, and salvation,
I want to wear all of it.

Please God, give me strength
so that my hand stays clasped in your hand,
let my faith in you be my shield
as lies and decite the enemy wields
upon the Devil's command.

I pray for you to enfold me
with enabling power
so that I might stand,
and in that hour,
the hour when Christ
comes to exact his own,
the hour when he comes
to take me home,

And in that land
God Almighty holds us
in the palm of his hand,
No more aches and pain,
No more suffering,
All tears will be dried,
Christ has liberated us,
It was his great love
for mankind
God sent his only Son
to be crucified.
