The Little Loner
~
He came to us one crisp
December morn
He looked so tired and
hungry and forlorn,
He looked at us with his
big brown sad eyes
The way he looked at me,
made me cry.
He came right up and sat
by my side
His skinny ribs he just
could not hide,
He was just a loner,
dropped off by someone
Oh how cruel that was to
one so young.
His cold nose soon touched
my hand
And I knew he once was a
good friend,
I took him inside and gave
him some food
Then he nodded off with
his head on my shoe.
Finally his skinny little
ribs soon filled out
And he frolicked and
scampered all about,
He became like a guardian
angel from Heaven
So we ended up calling him
just Lucky Seven.
