Please love me not for outward face
Nor turn of eye, or comely grace
My soul of everlasting life, my heart within
Is where my love is placed

Don't come to me just for the thrill of outward joy
Neither for all that I can do
For everything now to view, may fail or fall
And then what shall be true

Thou shoulds't love me for a deeper worth
For the mystery of life you cannot tell
Then you mays't keep all that delight for aye
And you shall treat me well

All that is now seen only by minds eye
Will fade with age of time to pass
But if you truly care for all the hidden treasure
Then all we are shall last
