~ A New Year Prayer ~
Dear Jesus, You
have been a friend to keep
Please bless these friends
Who write me notes,
Thank you for giving them to me,
So I can hope.
They give me love,
They help me see
That my problems are not so very much,
When I hold Jesus in my arms to care for me,
From the love He gave me on the cross
I feel the nails in His hands
The thorns on his Head
The blood for all of us He shed.
I look at His face, in so much pain
Does anyone care enough to call His name
His mother takes Him from my lap
She looks at me and asks my help,
This chosen woman who brought Him life
Always knew, what He would face
His mother Mary, so full of grace.
When I think of myself, now I do not have a sad fate
Compared to Jesus,
As it was for me upon the cross He lay
I will remember it, this New Years Day
So I would like to pray,
Lord let me always keep friends far and near
So they can remind me, Jesus love is near.
This New Years Prayer, will ring at twelve
Help me learn, to give my love
Not to just receive but serve,
For love was sent from heaven above,
My friends, gave me Jesus, so I would not be sad
How can I thank them, each and every one
Without them in my life,
I would not have seen the sun.
