~ One Day At A Time ~


One day at a time is how I do it
Each day requires my full attention
Too many things to do in one day
Anything more and it would create tension.

Live your life each and every day
As if it were your last
Gaze at the beauty all around you
Life goes by so very fast.

Material things are not important
I finally found this out
Too much attention was devoted to work
My family was suffering no doubt.

I had an epiphany the other day
Or at least that's what I call it
All this time I thought I was living right
While my life was being torn apart bit by bit.

I heard the words come out of my mouth
As I offered someone advice
It's then I realized, 'what's wrong with me
Why wasn't I making a sacrifice.'

My family means so much to me
More than any job, wealth, or fame
So I'm taking my own advice this time
And my life I intend to reclaim.
