The moon looks on, unfazed,
Waves pound the shore
Sweet evermore
Compels my eyes to gaze.

Cliffside feels so cold here,
The lighthouse sheds no light,
Great Van Gogh skyline
Hemmingway, byline,
Me, I just love the night.

It's all alive and rushing
The water to the land,
The gull to a fish
My heart to a wish,
This much I understand.

It might be the ocean,
Might simply be a bay,
Still, you can't hold her in
The sea ever will win,
For that is just her way.
