~ Shadow Of The Cross ~
My life was so empty
nothing mattered to me
the needs of my brother
I no longer could see
Because I had wandered
so far from the fold
I was no longer traveling
toward that City of Gold
Then I saw a cross on a hillside
from the valley below
And a voice said to me
'Toward the cross you must go'
I said: 'my soul's too weary
and the journey's too long'
The voice said; 'child,
I'll show you you're wrong'
'You make the first step,
take faith by the hand
And soon you'll be traveling
to that bright promised land'
But I couldn't get started
the hill was too steep
So I sat in the valley
and deeper I sank
My body grew weak
and my spirit grew cold
One day I looked up
and saw that Cross was pure gold
I got so excited
I cried 'Faith take my hand,
Now I'm ready
to go to that land'
But faith answered back,
'You'll never make it my friend,
The cross you're now viewing
is where eternity began'
'While you were waiting
you just never knew,
That Jesus came back
When the last trumpet blew
