~ Silent Lullaby ~
I see the bruises 'round your neck
And I hurt for you inside
Every purple mark that's borne,
Speaks of wounded pride.
Everyday you find a smile
And bravely put it on,
While underneath the tears you cry
Compose a saddened song.
I see the telltale tremors swell
Beneath your golden smile,
I hear the soft excuses made,
Your spirit's swift denial.
I listen for the falter in
Each single, uttered word,
And hear a wounded sigh exhaled,
When nothing can be heard.
I hear the very depth and soul
Emptied in each chord,
Till every tear grows to a wail,
And from your heart is poured…
But your lullaby of silence now
Must hasten to a roar…
Oh waiver not, sing loud and strong,
For you were made for more!
