~ Whispers Of Regret ~

Did a day go by I could have done more,
When I did more for myself than for you...
Did selfishness steal a chance that I had
To do something I wish now I could do?

Did I say all the things that I should have,
Were there times that I said too much...
Did I let you know just how much you meant,
How I loved your sweet tender touch?

I'm sure I could have done better,
I know I should have done more...
I wish I had hugged you much harder
The last time you walked out the door.

These are the whispers I hear in my heart,
Each one brings a tear to my eye...
I know I never did quite enough,
No matter how hard I would try.

What is it within each one of us,
We struggle to give all, and yet...
In the end we are haunted
By these "Whispers of Regret"
