Who
Who left a home with streets of gold
And gates made out of pearl?
Who left a place of peaceful rest
And entered a sinful world?
Who said, “A sacrifice I’ll be
For one who lost his way?”
“I’ll suffer and die upon a cross
For all who’ve gone astray.”
And so it was, a God of love
In mercy, looked below.
“You’ll have to take upon yourself
Their punishment …you know?”
“I’ll go,” said Christ in their stead.
My life, I will lay down.
He lived, He died, on Calvary,
He wears the Victor’s crown.
A gift, God’s Son so freely gave
New life, for you and me.
Wondrous sacrifice called Love,
To live eternally.
